On July 3, 2024, in the office of Energoatom, the solemn signing of the Memorandum on cooperation between NNEGC and the Public PAEW (“Professional Association of Environmentalists of the World”) took place.
The head of NAEC Petro Kotin signed the relevant document together with the President of the organization Lyudmila Tsyganok.
The parties agreed to work together on:
• improving public awareness of the NPP safety state and environmental impact;
• increasing the level of environmental knowledge and environmental awareness of Ukrainians;
• bringing Ukrainian environmental legislation to the standards of the European Union.
“Ukraine faces many important tasks related to the construction of nuclear facilities. It is extremely important nowadays, when the world is breathless of fakes and unreliable information, to inform Ukrainians qualitatively, objectively and carefully about the real state of things,” Petro Kotin said.
He added that by operating nuclear power plants, Energoatom solves the global problem of reducing the level of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. Nuclear power solves many of today's environmental challenges, and the EU recently added nuclear power to green energy sources, alongside solar and wind generation.
For her turn, Lyudmila Tsyganok noted that the organization was an association of professional environmental managers, therefore the public union will cooperate with Energoatom on the implementation of joint projects and activities within the framework of the Memorandum: “We hope that our cooperation will help in finding solutions in the environmental field for the benefit of Ukraine and Ukrainian people”.
