While communicating with journalists, the CEO of Energoatom Petro Kotin noted that the situation at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP is dangerous due to the large amount of nuclear fuel placed at the site.
All six reactors are loaded. There is fresh fuel at the fresh fuel building and spent fuel in the reactor spent fuel pools. There are also over 150 spent fuel casks in the Dry Spent Fuel Storage Facility. These are huge amounts of nuclear material. I can't even tell you where else there is such a large amount," the head of the NNEGC said.
As a reminder, the russian military stores heavy equipment and ammunition directly at the Zaporizhzhia NPP site. This poses significant risks to nuclear and radiation safety of the entire European continent.
